become a pilot
CLAA offers advanced specialty courses for the following certificates:
CLAA's private pilot training is self-paced. All lessons are conducted on an individual basis. This means that you plan your flight training sessions around your schedule instead of someone else’s and that you have your instructor’s undivided attention during YOUR pilot training session.
CLAA uses the latest GPS Technology including precision GPS approaches utilizing the latest WAAS technology. We tailor instrument pilot training to the individual pilot based on his or her goals and instrument flying needs. We emphasize GPS flight instruction utilizing Garmin GPS technology.
As a pilot working towards an aviation career, you’ll need lots of multiengine flight time. The multiengine rating will not take long if you’ve already got your private pilot’s license, usually somewhere around 10 hours plus check-ride.
If you’re working towards a career as a pilot, you’ll need your commercial certificate. This gives you the ability to fly for hire and carry passengers/cargo for hire in certain situations. In your training, you fine tune everything you learned in your private pilot training and become a confident, safe pilot worthy of carrying passengers.
Ground school is an integral part of flight training at all levels. In fact, you'll spend some time on the ground with your instructor before/after each flight. In addition to the ground portion of each flight lesson, Aero Atlanta (in conjunction with Jeppesen Training Products) has developed a customized syllabus that will make it easy for you to prepare for each flight lesson. You'll also learn a lot through interactive online modules, videos, graphics, and quizzes. When you need help, your instructor will work with you to make sure you understand each concept thoroughly.
FAA Medical Certificate
You'll need to visit an Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) to obtain your medical certificate/student pilot's license before you can fly solo. An AME is a doctor the FAA has authorized to give flight physicals (a flight physical is basically a routine physical exam). You can apply for a first-, second- or third-class medical certificate. Private pilots only need to obtain a third-class medical certificate.
If you plan to continue training to earn your commercial pilot's license, you'll need a second-class medical to exercise your privileges as a commercial pilot. If you're ready to get your medical certificate, you can click here to locate an AME in your area.
